Where to start.... Art Attack! Good ol' Neil Buchanan introduced me to making things, and I was rarely without a pencil or a box full of creative bits. Not much has changed really, except that box is now a whole room (aka the Wonder Room), packed with fabrics, pens, tech, plants, and lots of half-formed ideas waiting to become something useful.
After graduating with a Graphic Design degree from Bournemouth Arts University in 2009, I jumped straight into my first design job at a sign company. That's where my love of print really took hold. I'm still fascinated by the printing process and how many methods there are to bring designs to life.
A few years later my husband and I started a family. When the time came for me to return to work, motherhood gave me the nudge to start my own business. It felt scary, exciting, and very right - MooksGoo was born!
Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to dip into the wonderfully chaotic world of teaching art and design at a residential special school on the Isle of Wight (hats off to all teachers – you bloody rock!). I’ve collaborated with amazing companies and clients around the globe, and pursued my dream of creating my own real-life shop (virtual; potato potata), bursting with quirky joy.
I’m a colour-loving graphic designer and illustrator, and what I love most about this industry is that there’s room for individuality. Bright, bold, wondrous and unconventional isn’t just allowed – it’s powerful. And when it’s done with purpose, it helps good people and organisations show up with confidence.
What does MooksGoo mean, I hear you say? I get asked this often!
It's a combination of nicknames my husband and I had for each other; he called me Mooks and I called him Goo. We were deciding on a house name, and he suggested MooksGoo (yes, my name came first - I am the boss). I loved it so much, I took it just for myself, because marriage is all about teamwork!
MooksGoo is an award-winning graphic design and illustration studio, creating distintive, powerful designs for people and organisations.
I work across branding, illustration, pattern, packaging, web design and printed materials, that help you communicate clearly, confidently and with personality – whether you’re an individual, charity, purpose-led business or creative project.
I work with a small number of clients each year, allowing time and care to be poured into every project – from first ideas through to final delivery.
Alongside client work, MooksGoo is also home to a small, characterful online shop filled with original clothing, prints and homeware, designed to celebrate individuality and a love of colour.
You can explore the shop at www.mooksgoo.shop
I work with colour, imagery and structure to help you communicate your message clearly and confidently – creating design that’s not only effective, but genuinely beautiful.
When design works well, it puts you front and centre. My role is to listen, translate and craft work that supports what you do and helps you show up in the world with confidence.
I take a thoughtful, hands-on approach to every project, whether it’s a small idea or something more involved.
Care, clarity and collaboration sit at the heart of everything I do.
